The Summer that Was

Wow, summer has really slipped away from us this year! I'm ashamed to say it's been almost 3 months since I've updated our blog.

Taylor started attending a new school earlier this summer, Little Tree Education in Madbury. We could not be happier with her there. She absolutely loves it, and most days I have to drag her out of there to go home. Everything in the school is on her level, and made for her size. There are child-sized sinks, toilet (not that we're there yet), shelves, even trash cans. There are lots of interesting "toys" within reach to explore. They compost their food, and Taylor cleans up after herself when she eats. She started sleeping on a mat with the other kids there, drinking out of an open cup, and sitting at the table in a non-highchair for meals and snacks. All of this happened practically over night. Her teachers are wonderful (her main teacher bring Miss Natalie), and her current bffs are Lilianna, Bear, Heidi, Claire and Elsa. Her favorite part of Little Tree is getting to see the babies in the infant room every once in a while.

We've been spending a lot of time with family and friends over the summer. Almost every weekend we've been able to get out and do something fun!

Taylor is now just shy of 18 months old. She's full of energy, independence, laughter, fiestiness, and smiles. She's extremely inquisitive, and has a thousand faces! She can become very frustrated trying to communicate, or when she has her mind made up that she wants something (or wants to do something) off-limits. It's a struggle sometimes to decipher what she's trying to say. Over the past 3 months, she's learned many new words. She officially has a favorite color (yay-o = yellow), which is actually the color of everything, initially. A few of the other words we've deciphered are: ma-mo (lawnmower), pie (potty), frug (frog - emphasis on the "g"), and puh-poo (purple). She knows all of her animal sounds, is getting pretty good with colors, and has several favorite songs (Row your Boat, Happy and you Know it, Happy Birthday, and Ring around the Rosie, to name a few). She's got loads of teeth now, and we've been in the throws of molar-misery for at least a month now. Her favorite foods are waffles, meatballs, tacos, yogurt, and blueberries. Her next check-up isn't until next month, but she's definitely a peanut, still wearing 12-month clothes. I swear we feed her.

That about covers our summer, in short. A few more weeks to go, then on to football, apples and sweaters! Until next time...
